BREESE • Jonathon Nast, 25, was charged Friday in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian here earlier this week.
Nast, of the first block of Circle Drive in Damiansville, Ill., was charged in Clinton County Circuit Court with failure to report a motor vehicle accident involving death, and obstructing justice.
Lana Albert, 23, of Edwardsville, was found dead about 2:30 a.m. Sunday after police responded to reports of a woman walking in and out of traffic along old U.S. Highway 50. She had been with friends at a nearby sports bar. Albert worked as a dental assistant in Glen Carbon.
Authorities said Nast sold his truck to a scrap dealer before notifying police of the incident.
Nast posted $25,000 bail and was ordered not to have contact with the victim’s family, according to court records.
