Man pleads guilty to leaving scene in fatal St. Louis County hit-and-run

Screen Shot 2016-01-26 at 12.58.50 PMST. LOUIS COUNTY • A man pleaded guilty earlier this week to leaving the scene of an accident in a May hit-and-run that killed a 16-year-old.

Aaron Futrell, of the 11000 block of Sheffield Drive, pleaded guilty Monday to the felony. He was scheduled to be sentenced March 4.

Futrell, then 24, was driving a sedan that hit Deandre Wallace Jr. as the teen was trying to cross four lanes of traffic on Chambers Road near the intersection with Green Valley Drive about 8 p.m. on May 7, police said. Wallace lived in the the 10000 block of Bon Oak Drive, a few blocks away from the scene of the crash.

The car was speeding before hitting Wallace and fled west on Chambers, police said.

A St. Louis County officer from the North County Precinct found the car and authorities later arrested Futrell.
