Police Seek Help Following Hit and Run

Alton Daly News – By Mark Ellebracht – WBGZ Radio

Police in Edwardsville are asking the public for assistance in finding the driver of the vehicle responsible for a hit and run accident last month.  A male bicyclist was struck from behind and injured while riding in the 2400 block of Route 157 around 5:15am on November 13.  The driver of the motor vehicle left the scene.

The bicyclist was transported to an area hospital, and then later transferred to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.  The victim has since been released, but continues to recover from multiple injuries.  Police say based on the skid marks at the scene, the bicyclist was several feet off the roadway when he was hit.  Pieces of debris from the vehicle were left at the scene leading police to believe the suspect may have been driving a 1990s model Chrysler/Jeep Cherokee, with damage to the front passenger side.  If you have information on the case, call Sgt. Brandn Whittake at Edwardsville Police at (618) 656-2131 or their anonymous tip line at (618) 692-7552.
